Dr. Puneet Girdhar is presently working as Senior Director & Head Spine Surgery at BLK Centre for Orthopaedics, Joint Reconstruction & Spine Surgery at BLK Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi.

He has deep and extensive experience in the following practice areas: Microendodiscectomies, Minimally invasive spinal decompressions and fusions, Artificial disc replacements and deformity correction in Cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine in a wide array of Congenital, Degenerative, Neoplastic and Traumatic conditions of spine. His key areas of practice are minimally invasive spine surgery and correction of spinal deformities both in the adult and pediatric age groups.

The overwhelming majority of his work involves the use of cutting edge technologies including using state of the art microscopes and tubular retractors which involve the patients undergoing keyhole surgeries causing minimal muscle cutting and cosmetic scars. The patient benefits are immediate and obvious – minimal hospitalization (one-two days) and faster recuperation and return to work. Neuromonitoring devices are used to ensure maximum patient safety in complex cases involving spinal deformity corrections and neural tissue handling.

The BLK spinal surgery team led by Dr. Puneet Girdhar has the distinction of successfully performing amongst the highest number (above five hundred annually) of minimally invasive spine surgeries in North India. Dr. Girdhar has performed a wide range of complex spinal procedures on around two thousand patients during his tenure at BLK. BLK provides end to end solutions to the patients with post-operative care at the BLK center for physiotherapy and rehabilitation situated within the hospital premises.

Dr. Puneet Girdhar has been extensively trained over the last decade and a half at several speciality spine centers around the world with eminent faculty renowned for their work. He did his basic fellowship training with Dr. Sashin Ahuja at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, UK. He underwent Clinical & Bioskills training on MIS-TLIF with Dr. Mun Wai Yue at Singapore General Hospital, Singapore and the AO trauma fellowship with Dr. Wade Smith, Denver Health, Colorado, USA.

At present, he is a member of most of the national and international associations of spine surgeons and is on the faculty board of most of these societies. He routinely conducts cadaveric workshops/ live surgery workshops around the country in order to impart his knowledge and skills to the upcoming spine surgeons keen on learning the advanced techniques of minimally invasive spinal surgery.

He is a regular speaker/ instructor at the annual meet of the minimally invasive spine surgery association of India and the Asia pacific minimally invasive spine surgery course.
